Metadata: Non-compulsory fields

Artwork Path

There are two options for this column:

  • You can provide the full URL to the album artwork, if you have this hosted somewhere, eg. https://url-to-your-album-art/abc1.jpg.

  • You can provide us with the artwork files to host and simply enter the filenames, e.g. “abc1.jpg”.

Alternatively this column can be left blank entirely if there is no album artwork (we will need a logo for us to set as default artwork for your tracks instead).

Where there is album artwork, then the 'cd title / ref #' column becomes mandatory (because we need an album to attach album artwork to).

bpm

Not to be used for text based descriptions. Anything other than whole numbers will be discarded during the import process. We will automatically calculate this for you if you leave it blank.

Genre, Instrument, Vocals, Mood (Facets)

The above facets appear on the left hand side of the site as search filters. When we receive your  metadata we will attempt to match the data to our facet tree structure.

We make all the data lower case so it doesn't matter whether the data is DRUMS, drums, or DrUmS - we will attempt to match on ‘drums’.

We split the text on the commas, so data under the instruments column containing ‘drums, piano, guitar’ would be separated into three individual terms. The system then attempts to match those terms to our instruments tree structure.

If any of the instruments are entered on the metadata separated by anything other than a comma, eg. ‘guitar/piano’ or ‘Percussion>Drums’ this would be treated as one single term and would be unlikely to match to our existing terms. It will however instead be used to populate the 'keywords' (see below).

Keywords

Keywords are built from the data in the keywords column on the metadata template and additionally has any facet data added to it that we cannot find a match for (i.e. using the example above, if ‘Percussion>Drums’ doesn't match anything then it will be added to keywords).

The keywords for each track appear under ‘More info’ when the track is selected on the site and are searchable when clicked on.

Description

This appears on the track list on the front page exactly as given in the metadata. Please do not include email addresses, URLs, or telephone numbers in descriptions.

Release Date

This should be in the format ‘June 2017’, ‘Jun-17’, or simply ‘2017’. Any other format, eg. 01/06/17 will be automatically discarded during the import process.
